what i'm up to
my kind of town
In 2006-07, I took a major, several month tour of as much of North America as I could see, nearly 400 major cities and attractions in the United States, Canada and Mexico (more). After some rest, I moved to Chicago, to start a new chapter in life and get back to work on my books...my area: philosophy
I'm importing lots of Philosophy articles and images from Wikinfo that I'd worked on there. They were already forked from Wikipedia's pages, but they need to be organized better here, for example, having non-Wikipedian titles... -proteus 12:33, 26 Mar 2007 (EDT) This is coming along, little by little, and I'm merging it with some newer material from Wikipedia. Eventually, we'll have a nice, clean "Philosophy Tree" of articles... -proteus 12:02, 16 Apr 2007 (EDT)tech notes
Oops, sorry! - Please forgive the sometimes many extraneous edits I appear to make. I sometimes use a spotty Wi-Fi connection and it seems to time out and save partial pages. I then have to fix them. Ugghh. -proteus 22:47, 1 Mar 2008 (EST)> various stuff: My Background, CSS Code Boxes, Wiki->XML Feed

your wiki questions
Contested Title
JA: I need to create an article with the title "Information = Comprehension x Extension", or "Information = Comprehension × Extension", but php(?) won't let me have an equal sign "=" in the title. I tried various other codes for "=" that I could find, but none worked. Is there a way to do this? Jon Awbrey 22:04, 26 Jan 2007 (EST)
Yes, "=" is a reserved character for query strings. I'd just use "equals" or "(equals)"... -proteus 11:32, 27 Jan 2007 (EST)
Recent Changes and Watchlist Problems

Object id #11 (talk|contribs|blockpromote) (add) Object id #11 (talk|contribs|blockpromote) (use to bind expressions) Object id #11 (talk|contribs|blockpromote) (via wikipedia) Object id #11 (talk|contribs|blockpromote) (+/-) Object id #11 (talk|contribs|blockpromote) (fix special chars) Object id #11 (talk|contribs|blockpromote) (cleanup, make cols) Object id #11 (talk|contribs|blockpromote)
JA: What's that all about? Jon Awbrey 10:40, 29 Mar 2007 (EDT)
I've seen that one other time with someone - try going to your user preferences. Once there, change the "enhanced recent changes" setting, then save it, and it should clear up. You can then change it back. Somehow, your user options got corrupted, but why, I don't know... -proteus 10:55, 29 Mar 2007 (EDT)
