Southern Illinois University School of Law in
Carbondale and the School of Medicine in
Springfield. SIUC is home to over 20,000 students who enroll in 186 academic programs.
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) is the
Edwardsville, Illinois campus of the system. In addition to a variety of undergraduate and graduate degrees, the institution features a new but highly regarded College of Pharmacy, a School of Dental Medicine at
Alton and a center in
East St. Louis that provides clinical and
practicum experiences for SIUE students in the arts, education, health, and social services. The main campus in Edwardsville is situated on {{convert|2660|acre|sqmi}}, with bicycle and walking paths throughout. SIUE is home to 13,500 students. At one time, SIUE was known as a "commuter school", but in recent years has transformed itself into a residential university.SIUE is known
(highly rated in USNEWS) for its Senior Assessment Program. SIUE celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2007.
